On the 23rd of November 2017, at Intercontinental Hotel in Bucharest, took place one of the biggest events dedicated to IT innovation, the second edition of the SMART Alliance Innovation Summit. The Summit presented solutions created by top Romanian specialists, members of the Smart Alliance Cluster, leaders in the IT & C sector in which it operates.
The event brought together four interactive sessions: SMART Education Debate, SMART City Debate, SMART GDPR Debate and SMART Innovation — “Romanian Innovation Train”.
More than 55 Romanian and international companies, profile associations and representatives of civil society and 25 speakers, attended the event and held speeches.
Within the SMART GDPR Debate panel, specialists from four different areas discussed on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the European Directive that will amend both European and Romanian legislation by adopting measures with a direct impact on companies.
The panel, moderated by Gabriel Munteanu – President of Smart Alliance, was made up of: Cosmin Macaneata – Managing Partner OMEGA Trust, Beatrice Onica Jarka – Partner at Cunescu, Balaciu & Associates, Florin Marinache – Sales Manager at Romsym Data and Gerald Dinca – Information Security Officer la Uniqa Asigurari, who discussed the GDPR regulations and approaches to align organizations to this new regulation.
During this debate, a number of questions were addressed on the impact and consequences that GDPR will have on organizations that process personal data.
The discussions also addressed case studies proposed by the participants at the event, which clarified specific issues in the application of GDPR.
The conclusion of this debate was that the alignment with the GDPR will be a major challenge for public and private institutions in Romania, not only because of the difficulty of the regulation itself, but also of the mentality and low interest that the Romanian organizations have given to the protection of personal data, so far.
Within the event, an exhibition was organized, where the companies presented to the participants the latest technologies and innovative services.
The SMART Alliance Innovation Summit is the only event addressed to business people and public administrators in Romania who understand that Innovation has become the engine of any success story.
Founded in 2015, SMART ALLIANCE – Innovation Technology Cluster is a creator and implementer of innovative end-to-end business solutions for key sectors of the Romanian and Global economy.
